Senté Labs has announced the publication in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology of a study investigating the combination of its heparan sulphate analogue (HSA) with tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (THD), a lipid-soluble vitamin C derivative used in its Defense C Serum. The brand presents this ʺbioactive stackingʺ approach as a strategy combining complementary mechanisms of action rather than simply increasing active concentrations.

In UV-damaged human skin, a single application of the HSA-THD combination reportedly reduced a key oxidative stress marker by 44% within 24 hours, DNA damage by 9.5% and advanced glycation end products by 37%. After 12 weeks of use, the study also reported improvements in luminosity, texture, smoothness, photodamage and fine lines, with no adverse events reported. Senté is therefore positioning the combination as a way to deliver visible vitamin C performance while limiting its irritation potential.
