Ethanol: BPC opinion postponed

Following its meeting in November 2025, the ECHA Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) decided to postpone discussions on the use of ethanol as an active substance in disinfectants due to a lack of consensus. Discussions will resume in February to issue an opinion by May 2026. The final decision will then rest with the European Commission. This postponement undermines the visibility of players in the biocides sector, complicating decision-making processes on possible reformulations of existing ranges.
