Arome uses AI to automate fragrance molecule discovery

US company Arome has launched an agentic AI platform for discovering new fragrance molecules. Starting from an olfactory brief, the system carries out several R&D steps in sequence: it generates molecular candidates, predicts their likely odour characteristics and then identifies potential biosynthetic pathways that could be used to produce them.

Aimed at fragrance ingredient manufacturers and biotechnology companies, the platform is designed to accelerate exploration of a chemical space that remains largely untapped by perfumery. Considering biosynthesis from the discovery stage could also support the development of new ingredients through more sustainable production routes. Arome therefore brings together olfactory briefing, molecular generation, sensory prediction and bioproduction assessment within a single digital workflow.
