Already a leading player in K-Beauty UV protection, Kolmar Korea is extending its expertise to scalp and hair care. The South Korean manufacturer (OEM and ODM) has unveiled Scalp Sun Essence, an SPF50+ formula designed for direct application to the scalp, alongside a photoprotective technology aimed at limiting light-induced damage to the hair fiber.

Driven by the growing ʺskinificationʺ trend in hair care, this new approach targets damage caused by light exposure, including fading, dryness and breakage. The formulation developed by Kolmar Korea combines UV filters with high refractive index silicone oils to diffuse light while maintaining a lightweight texture.

The company also announced the development of a new evaluation method for measuring hair photoprotection performance based on color variation analysis after UV exposure. Published in the journal Skin Research and Technology, the methodology aims to bring a scientific framework to a category that remains largely unstandardized.
