SkinMedica seeks to bring greater rigour to exosome science

At the 2026 Science of Skin Summit, Allergan Aesthetics is highlighting the FACTS Principles, a science-based framework developed by its skincare brand SkinMedica® to encourage more consistent evaluation of exosome-based cosmetic technologies. It focuses on several key parameters: final product formulation and stability, analytical methods, clinical studies, cellular origin and safety.

The aim is notably to look beyond the mere presence of exosomes in a formulation and establish whether their biological activity remains intact and stable in the finished product. As topical exosomes emerge alongside the rise of regenerative aesthetics, Allergan Aesthetics is calling for greater transparency and scientific rigour in their evaluation, from sourcing and formulation to preservation and study. The FACTS Principles remain, however, a framework proposed by SkinMedica rather than an independent industry standard.
