Lubrizol explores skin longevity, AI and photoprotection at IFSCC 2026

At the 2026 IFSCC Congress, taking place from 28 September to 1 October in Perth, Australia, the speciality ingredients company is presenting a series of studies exploring new approaches to cosmetic research and formulation. One oral presentation focuses on AI-driven periorbital imaging and multimodal analysis applied to cosmetic research. Skin longevity is also being explored through research into macrophage polarisation and inflammation-resolution pathways associated with skin regeneration. Several posters focus on photoprotection, including strategies to improve the photostability of butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, a natural wetting agent for inorganic UV particles, and the use of a natural polymer to stabilise sunscreens formulated with inorganic UV filters. Other studies examine cream spreadability, hair damage repair and subcritical water extraction of Calendula officinalis as a more sustainable extraction technology.
