From 1 July 2027, the French beauty group will assume responsibility for the creation, development and worldwide distribution of the Italian fashion house's fragrances and beauty products. The announcement follows the early termination of the agreement between Kering, Gucci's parent company, and Coty. The transfer of Gucci's beauty business to L'Oréal forms part of the strategic partnership established between the luxury group and the world's leading cosmetics company in October 2025, granting L'Oréal an exclusive 50-year licence.
Until the agreement comes into effect, the two companies will work together to ensure a smooth and phased transition of the business. For L'Oréal, the addition of Gucci represents a major enhancement to its brand portfolio. Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Officer of L'Oréal, described the deal as "the beginning of a fifty-year journey", while Cyril Chapuy, President of L'Oréal Luxe, said the brand has the potential to generate "several billion euros in annual sales".
The agreement further strengthens L'Oréal's position as the global leader in luxury beauty, while Coty loses one of its most prestigious beauty licences.
