IFF Scent switches to green hydrogen

In November 2025, the Benicarló site in Spain – dedicated to R&D and ingredient manufacturing – integrated a renewable hydrogen unit through a 10-year agreement with Iberdrola, becoming the industry's first integrated green hydrogen plant. Powered by solar energy, it will produce up to 100 tonnes/year for more than 50 IFF references, avoiding 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. This model will be replicated at other sites, in line with IFF's climate roadmap: -50% direct emissions, -30% indirect emissions by 2030, and carbon neutrality by 2040.
