Greentech has received the IFSCC 2026 Podium Applied Research Award for research into the role of the nervous system in age-related focal hyperpigmentation. Conducted with LabSkin Creations, the study used a 3D neuro-mimetic pigmented human skin model and highlighted the involvement of RGMB, released by cutaneous sensory neurons, in localised melanin overproduction. The model notably showed increased melanocyte dendricity, melanosome transfer and melanin accumulation, with these effects amplified by UV exposure. The findings contributed to the development of Ilumys®, an active targeting both melanin and lipofuscin spots.
