The global professional haircare market is expected to reach USD 57.5 billion by 2033, up from USD 34.8 billion in 2023, according to Allied Market Research, representing an average annual growth rate of 5.3%. The segment is being driven by the rise of premium salon services, the expansion of clean formulations, and the growing integration of AI technologies into hair diagnostics.

Demand is increasingly focused on personalized care, scalp treatments, anti-hair loss protocols, and skincare-inspired solutions. Professional shampoos and treatments remain the market’s leading segment, while reparative treatments, bond-repair systems such as Olaplex, and therapeutic scalp care are among the fastest-growing categories.

The report also highlights the acceleration of hair ʺskinification,ʺ fueled by AI-assisted hair diagnostics, customized routines, and digital scalp-monitoring platforms. Online sales of professional haircare products grew by more than 22% in 2023, supported by direct-to-consumer models and personalized subscription services.

Asia-Pacific is emerging as the most dynamic region, with annual growth expected to reach 7.2% through 2033, driven by China, South Korea, and India. Europe, meanwhile, remains a highly premiumized market, shaped by sustainability requirements, clean formulations, and high-performance treatments.

According to Allied Market Research, growing concerns around hair loss are also becoming a major growth driver: more than 80 million Americans are reportedly affected by androgenetic alopecia, according to the ISHRS, fueling demand for targeted professional solutions.
