In its new report, The Science Shaping Longevity in Personal Care 2026, developed with Euromonitor International, in-cosmetics Global examines how longevity is reshaping beauty research and innovation. The focus is no longer solely on correcting visible signs of ageing, but increasingly on preserving resilience, recovery capacity and barrier integrity over time in the skin and, increasingly, the scalp and hair. The report highlights advances in biotechnology, precision fermentation and microbiome science, as well as emerging technologies around PDRN, exosome-inspired delivery systems and biomarker analysis. Demonstrating efficacy is also becoming more important, with growing emphasis on clinical testing. This approach is extending into nutricosmetics, hair and body care, as well as neuroscience applied to fragrance and emotional wellbeing. According to Euromonitor data cited in the report, nearly one in two companies now prioritises the idea of a healthy appearance over purely aesthetic outcomes.
