Holiferm and Organica bring biosurfactants and formulation closer together

The British biosurfactant specialist, which produces its ingredients through fermentation, and the manufacturer of biodegradable cleaning products have announced a strategic combination of their businesses. The move brings ingredient development, formulation, application development, finished-product manufacturing and commercialisation together within a single platform. Sadorp will remain a commercial partner to the combined business.

Founded in 2018, Holiferm develops and manufactures naturally derived biosurfactants in North West England using proprietary fermentation technology, targeting applications including personal care, home care and industrial uses. Organica, founded in 1998, brings expertise in the formulation and manufacture of biodegradable products. The two companies have been working together since 2023 and will continue to operate from adjacent sites in Wallasey.

The significance of the combination lies in the closer integration of the value chain, from ingredient biomanufacturing through application development to the finished product. The partners intend to increase production capacity and accelerate the development and industrialisation of new bio-based solutions, a particularly relevant development for personal care applications.
