The global hair colour market is expected to grow from $31.12 bn in 2025 (approximately €27.8 bn) to $61.18 bn by 2034 (€54.6 bn), representing a compound annual growth rate of 7.8%, according to Maximize Market Research. Growth is no longer driven solely by grey coverage: self-expression, at-home colouring and the rise of male grooming are broadening usage occasions. On the product side, demand is shifting towards ammonia-free, vegan and natural-origin formulations, as well as technologies combining colour performance with fibre protection. In 2026, Wella Professionals launched 30 ammonia-free shades, while Schwarzkopf Professional expanded its Igora Zero AMM range to 52 shades. Temporary and semi-permanent colours, along with root touch-up products, are also gaining ground among consumers looking for greater flexibility.
