The German group has entered into an agreement with Apax Funds for the sale of Centor and its global Primary Packaging Plastics business, in a transaction valued at approximately €1.5 bn. The deal covers 16 manufacturing sites across nine countries, representing around 2,400 employees and combined revenues of approximately €570 m in 2025.
Following the transaction, Gerresheimer intends to accelerate its deleveraging while strengthening its position in drug delivery systems, medical devices and primary packaging for injectable medicines, marking a strategic refocus on higher-value pharmaceutical activities. For Apax, the acquisition is intended to create an independent company with the resources to invest in manufacturing capacity, innovation and the expansion of pharmaceutical packaging, particularly in the US market.
