CODIF TN introduces LACTOPALM PARA, an innovation driven by Floridoside

We often talk about the age of our skin in terms of wrinkles, firmness, volume.

But what about pigmentary age?

Pigmentary age results from the accumulation of oxidative stress generated by our internal metabolism (the natural reactions through which cells produce energy and renew themselves) and external environmental factors (UV rays, pollution, stress, etc.).

Over time, this oxidative stress promotes the formation and accumulation of lipofuscin in our cells, a pigment linked to cellular aging. Each aging cell then spreads its oxidative state.

Today, cosmetic research embraces a new vision: skin longevity, which aims to preserve the skin’s biological functions and support cellular activity. Supporting these mechanisms, regardless of age, helps maintain the long-term uniformity and radiance of the complexion.

With LACTOPALM PARA, we are introducing an innovation based on FLORIDOSIDE, a signature molecule from red algae, whose effectiveness is amplified by a new-generation fermentation technology. This active ingredient targets pigmentation disorders by acting on mechanisms linked to oxidative stress and the accumulation of pigments such as lipofuscin and melanin. It is obtained from Palmaria palmata, CODIF TN's flagship red alga, lactofermented by Lactobacillus plantarum.

LACTOPALM PARA breaks the vicious cycle of lipofuscin by acting on both its formation and the effects of its accumulation, helping combat cellular aging while preserving skin radiance.

1. Upstream: protective effect against lipofuscin formation (protective effect – 32% of lipofuscin)

Thanks to FLORIDOSIDE, LACTOPALM PARA acts on the mechanisms responsible for the accumulation of pigmentary waste:

  • Inhibition of ROS production → reduced oxidative stress

  • Protection of proteins against carbonylation → limited cellular waste formation

  • Stimulation of autophagy → elimination of cellular waste

  • Decrease in melanogenesis

It is the lactofermentation in LACTOPALM PARA that releases and amplifies this FLORIDOSIDE. It also generates vitamins, fermentation metabolites and lactic acid, which participate in the regulation of oxidative stress and amplify the action of FLORIDOSIDE.

2. Downstream: limiting the pro-oxidant effects of lipofuscin and its accumulation (eliminating effect – 62% of lipofuscin)

Lipofuscin is also pro-oxidative: it generates ROS, creating a microenvironment of oxidative stress that stimulates melanogenesis. Gradually, lipofuscin and melanin aggregate to form pigment clusters that are difficult to degrade.

The results:

  • Tested on 105 women with 30 different skin tones: After 14 days: -14%*** dark spots, +29%*** smooth skin texture, +52%*** radiance. (***p<0.001 Student test)

  • In the longer term: a significant improvement in skin tone evenness compared to placebo, and a significant reduction in the number of pigment spots compared to placebo.

  • 81% of users reported visibly younger-looking skin after treatment.

LACTOPALM PARA can be formulated into all types of products, offering both a protective action against lipofuscin and contributing to its elimination. In the morning, it can be added to a skin essence to help the skin fight lipofuscin accumulation when exposed to UV during the day (it is not a sunscreen). It can also be used as a concentrated serum targeting dark spots or added to a cream to restore cellular balance for brighter, smoother skin.

Thanks to LACTOPALM PARA, it is now possible to slow down the biological mechanisms of pigmentary aging and restore the skin's natural radiance, as if it were regaining its youth, cell by cell, on all types of dark spots and all skin tones.
