Chanel: Aluminum wins big at PCD

Winner of the Perfume category at the PCD Innovation Awards on February 4th, Chanel has proven that luxury can shed weight without losing its aura. For its latest release, Chance Eau Splendide, the House performed a technical revolution by replacing brass and zamak with aluminum for the cap and the iconic side bands. The result is radical: the metal weight of the frame has been divided by four, leading to an overall bottle weight reduction of 20%. Co-developed over three years with ten industrial partners, this feat — which also incorporates 15% recycled glass — allows the bottle to reach a 95% recyclability rate. It is a powerful demonstration that, for Chanel, eco-design is the new standard of nobility.
