Antidumping: Vantage petitions US authorities

The US chemical company has petitioned US federal authorities to denounce the unfair trade practices of Indonesia and Malaysia in the fatty acids market. Vantage Specialty Chemicals accuses these countries, supported by state subsidies, of engaging in aggressive dumping and of having doubled their imports in four years, threatening hundreds of jobs in the United States.
Following the European sanctions imposed in 2023, Vantage claims that volumes of Asian products originally destined for Europe have been redirected to the US market at artificially low prices. By requesting the imposition of countervailing duties, the Illinois-based group hopes to restore fair competition for domestic producers of vegetable oil derivatives.
