Aloe vera embraces European sourcing
Aloesol is seeking to give Andalusian aloe vera a greater presence on the French market. Founded in 2019, the company sources directly from producers in southern Spain and works with European laboratories for processing and quality control. This shorter supply chain strengthens raw material traceability while limiting the number of intermediaries.
The issue goes beyond a simple change of origin. According to Aloesol, the Andalusian supply chain already has production capacity exceeding the needs of the European market, at costs comparable with those of non-European supply chains. The proximity of cultivation, processing and end markets also helps reduce transport distances, although no comparative carbon assessment is available to quantify the resulting benefit.
Aloesol is seeking to expand the use of this European-sourced aloe vera among French pharmacies, parapharmacies and distribution networks, and reports a presence in more than 500 points of sale. Its partner growers cultivate organic aloe vera in Andalusia, which is processed locally before being brought to market. The brand’s cosmetics are Cosmébio-certified, while its food supplements are Ecocert-certified.
