Currently in the demonstration phase, the Danish start-up is developing premium sustainable ingredients derived from microalgae. Cultivated under controlled conditions in compact photobioreactors, they are processed into matrices rich in lipids, proteins and other bioactive compounds. As an alternative to synthetic retinoids, the fat-soluble fraction supports skin structure and helps combat skin ageing, while the water-soluble fraction strengthens the skin barrier and modulates inflammation. Beyond performance, Algiecel offers consistent quality and full traceability. Compared to conventional synthetic raw materials, these solutions have a very low environmental footprint, limiting the use of water and land while drastically reducing CO2 emissions.
