Aerosols: beauty holds firm

In 2025, the French aerosol industry declined by 4% to 694 million units (vs 723 million units in 2024), breaking with the growth seen over the previous two years, according to the Comité Français des Aérosols (CFA). In the cosmetics sector, however, the trend remains positive: the “body care” segment, which accounts for 75% of production, edged up (+1%), driven by deodorants and antiperspirants (+5%) and, above all, shaving products (+20%), despite a decline in haircare (excluding dry shampoos) (-6%).

The appeal of aerosols as a format – practical, cost-effective and recyclable –continues to support demand. By contrast, the sharp drop in the ʺindustrial, technical, pharmaceuticalʺ segment weighs on overall performance.

Despite this cyclical downturn, the industry maintains a high level of activity and confirms its resilience in the European market, in a context where product innovation and environmental requirements are reshaping usage patterns.
