AberActives secures €1m

The Breton biotech expert, founded in 2021 by former members of the Roscoff Biological Station (CNRS), convinced Finistère Angels, Armor Angels and new individual shareholders to take part in this first €1 million seed funding round. The funds will be used to invest in production facilities and strengthen the team in areas such as sales, R&D and production. In its early days, AberActives received support from SATT Ouest Valorisation, Technopôle Brest-Iroise and Village by CA Finistère, as well as the entire Breton ecosystem dedicated to innovation: Pays de Morlaix (Blue Valley, Cluster Algues), Filière Mer from Crédit Agricole, BPI France, Biotech Santé Bretagne and the Brittany Region. The start-up, which specialises in macroalgae, uses enzymatic hydrolysis biorefining technology to harness the variety of natural compounds found in algae to produce biomolecules of interest for use in cosmetics and nutraceuticals.
