The Finnish paperboard producer and the German printing press manufacturer are combining their expertise to enhance packaging performance by bringing together innovative materials and advanced printing technologies.

The partnership between Metsä Board and Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) includes joint R&D programmes, pilot phases and customer demonstrations hosted at the companies’ respective technical centres. The initiative aims to improve both operational efficiency and the end-user experience.

The collaboration spans offset, flexographic and digital printing, with the ambition of driving innovation across the entire value chain. On one side, lightweight recyclable paperboards made from fresh fibres; on the other, high-performance equipment dedicated to printing and converting.

In a market shaped by tightening regulations and growing efficiency requirements, the cooperation is intended to support the development of solutions adapted to rapidly evolving packaging demands.
