Glycolic acid buoyed by skincare

According to MarketsandMarkets, personal care and dermatology applications are expected to be among the main drivers of global demand over the coming years. The consultancy estimates that the market will grow from $470 m (approximately €412 m) in 2026 to $700 m (approximately €614 m) by 2032, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.9%.

Prized in skincare formulations, particularly for its exfoliating properties, this AHA is used in cleansers, serums, toners, peels, anti-ageing products and blemish treatments. Cosmetic grade glycolic acid is forecast to grow by 6.1% a year over the period. Cosmetics and dermatology accounted for 47.7% of applications in 2025.

Asia-Pacific, which accounted for 37.5% of global sales in 2025, is expected to record the fastest regional growth through to 2032, driven in particular by the expansion of the beauty industries and the development of local production capacity.
