Cosmetics and agriculture: a strategic shift

Under environmental pressure, the cosmetics industry is strengthening its ties with the agricultural sector to secure its supply chains and account for the impact of raw materials from their very origin. This convergence will be at the heart of the Cosm’AgriBusiness Day on June 9, 2026, in Lyon, focusing on three key issues: water, soils, and resources.
In a context of planetary boundaries being exceeded, stakeholders are accelerating their efforts: new crops with cosmetic potential, valorization of co-products, and vertical integration of supply chains. At the same time, traceability requirements – reinforced by the introduction of the enhanced QR code in 2027 – are pushing brands to better structure their upstream relationships.
The cosmetics industry is thus initiating a shift in its model, moving from opportunistic sourcing to a more integrated, sustainable, and resilient approach.
