AllForPack: the voice of the French people

The European packaging trade show gave French consumers and industry players a voice in order to establish its annual "health report" on developments in the sector. The survey confirms the growing interest of French consumers in sustainability, which is a determining factor in their purchasing behaviour. However, price, scepticism about environmental claims, and the aesthetics and functionality of packaging remain major obstacles. Respondents expect more credible alternatives, placing large companies and distributors at the heart of the change.

On the manufacturing side, the ecological transition is accelerating under the influence of regulations and market expectations, but is hampered by the cost of materials. Recycling, along with recycled or bio-sourced plastics are emerging as priority trends, ahead of reuse.
