A team from the Lyon Neuroscience Research Centre (CNRS/Inserm/Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University) has identified the brain mechanisms underlying the "Proust phenomenon", whereby a familiar scent can trigger particularly vivid and emotionally charged childhood memories.
